Virtual Warm Site

Traditional warm sites are provisioned with the appropriate communication connections and network equipment, however, there is no live data present. The plus side of this alternative is that it is much less expensive than a traditional hot site, however, the timeframe of returning to production is far greater.

The majority of warm site platforms have the data shipped to the recovery center and then a restore is performed on the data. This process could take between 24 to 48 hours, at the minimum, before an organization can become operational. In certain instances, this procedure may not be a problem for some companies, but for a large number of small and mid-sized organizations, this procedure could be deadly.

We approach the warm site philosophy slightly different than the traditional model by incorporating electronic vaulting and hosted applications. This platform eliminates the task of moving tapes to a recovery center, building a server to perform the restore, and then completing the restore process. It also eliminates the time to build the application environment and having users travel to a recovery facility to continue business operations. With our Virtual Warm Site Recovery solution, a customer’s RTO is decreased significantly as compared to the traditional model since the hosted application environment and user access is already in place. All that is required is the data to be brought online. In addition, with electronic vaulting technology, CDP (Continuous Data Protection) can also be incorporated to provide a greater RPO.
